the beach

we spent the first week of may at isle of palms with mimi and papa, then the latter part of the week with the stewarts & davis'. i think this was the most fun we've had at the beach...maybe ever. 

things i want to remember from the week:

oscar's half birthday 

dinners in

hunting for shark eyes 

a 2 mile walk to find friends on the beach

martin boys sleeping in the closet 

a date night to mex 1 with the stewarts

a date night to harold's cabin with the davis' 

hours in the sun with my people

donuts for days

cheers to summer days. may you eat all the popsicles, let the sun kiss your skin every day, sleep when it rains and enjoy just being. 

snippets from Litchfield

We're just back from a week at Litchfield, our last beach week of the year. The weather was a bit chillier than our week at Edisto and it seems as if fall has chased us home. 

The boys slept in the closet again this year and Daddy-O got to stay all week! Amos, Solly & Ez loved the salt water pool and the golf cart (thank you, M!)! Lee's is always a staple and we added Family Kingdom & Ripley's Aquarium this year...both of which were huge hits with our crew! 

I really love watching our boys at the beach. They're wild and free, just as kids should be. They play hard (which means so do we) and love to be on the beach for as long as we'll let them (and as long as it's decently warm). Next summer we'll have another bambino in tow and I can't wait!

more tidal pool splashing, breakfast at the sea biscuit, my little thumb sucker on the beach, my biggest boy and donuts for breakfast on our last day!

we're back from a week at the beach with mimi, papa, mere & sweet may! amos loved the beach from the minute he could smell the salt air (he did not however like the drive...he didn't understand why we couldn't just fly) and solomon loved it once we left - he's asked multiple times since we've been home to go "to da beash." 

amos hated the "nasty sunscreen" and cried every.single.time we made him put it on. he knocked papa down at least 150x per day in the waves and then drug him back to the pool for some more bullying playing. he showed off his swimming skills and even acquired a pair of goggles from a sweet little girl at the pool. his new nickname is the energizer bunny because he had more energy than all of the adults combined. 

solomon didn't love the beach at first, but he watched amos and eventually liked playing in the sand with him. mike asked him the night we got home what he liked about the beach...his response: tidal pools, ice cream & sprinkles. (haha) he also loved watching kites, helicopters & airplanes and hated crabs (we saw 2 within a few minutes of each other...he came undone when the 2nd one started scurrying away). 

sweet baby ezra was just along for the ride. he got in the pool for the first time (it felt like very warm bath water) and got in the ocean too! he tagged along on the beach a few times, where he fell asleep to the sound of the waves & played on a towel under the umbrellas.
