you've snuck past almost as quickly as this entire year has. we're winding down your last few days, slipping away to dip our toes in the caribbean, hoping to be sun kissed and well worn when we return.  we've watched storms roll in, water balloons squish and pop, swam where the swimming was good, weekended with friends and made plans for the rest of the year. you've tasted like fresh blueberries, coke (zero) and bourbon and sonic happy hour. i've questioned things and tried to understand. i've snuggled my babies a little longer, thankful that they're mine and that we're here, not there...

month seven

1

Sweetest dude. You're seven whole months old now and it seems like you've been with us for always. Seamless.  These past seven months have passed in a blink, as they seem to do with each and every one of you. But I'm learning to savor all of it (the middle of the night feedings, the fussy teething days, the milestones...) while living in it. Stamping it on my heart and trusting my soul to remember (as a dear friend walking in motherhood with me has said in comfort to my fear of forgetting).

You bounce in the jumper, sit on my hip, ride in the carrier on daddy, or scoot around happily as can be. You're a champ when it comes to sleep -- you like to lie in the crib with sleepy fox and chatter to yourself until you fall asleep (bless you child). You love food - all of it - and have weened to nursing about 3x/day + 1-2/night. So far you've sprouted one bottom tooth. And, your most exciting trick is pulling to stand and cruising! Yay! (Much earlier than any of the brothers...) I've been trying to get you to say "mama" for weeks now, but like Ez at this age, you just look at me and grin. I'll take it.

Oscar,  I love you. We've got super fun summer ahead! This coming weekend you'll fly your first flight(s) and get your first stamp in your passport. Cheers to adventures - the world is yours little boy. Keep growing big and strong.

We've been weekending at the lake house this summer and I'm almost positive there's no where my crew would rather be. The lake has more water than it's had in years so we've been able to enjoy swimming at the dock and lots of boat rides. We pack the cooler and hit the dock, letting the day slip away, listening to music & "hey mama, watch this" (or "hey daddy, watch this") over and over and over.

Time drips like honey at the lake house - sweet and slow - just the way we like it.

Last week Amos got to go on a very special fishing trip to the Everglades with Pop! They left early on Wednesday and drove 14+ hours. They fished and got rained out several days in a row, but Amos had the time of his life. He fished with the big boys, saw alligators (even got to hold one!), swam in the hotel pool (aka belly flopped for hours), and had all of the big guys' attention for days. He was in heaven!

I'm so thankful Amos got to take this trip. I know he'll remember it forever. From the long car rides, to the torrential downpour every day, to jumping in the hotel pool for hour, to the alligator wrestling show with Marcos. I've loved hearing blips about the trip already and know more and more will be told in the coming days as Amos remembers. Thank you Pop for taking Amos and loving on him in this special way!

A few weeks ago Amos graduated from preschool! We really loved his program at Overbrook Baptist this year and especially loved his sweet teacher, Mrs. Mandy! Their end of year graduation program was so sweet. We celebrated with a banquet for the kids beforehand at Community Tap and then dessert afterwards in the fellowship hall.

Amos, I'm so proud of you. You learned more of what it means to really be kind this year and how to listen to a teacher. You played on the playground with all the kids and came home talking about it. You made crafts (my Mother's day picture frame and hand print plate will forever be a favorite) and told your teacher that daddy and mama are good at video games (hahahah!). You took Papa on your field trip to the pumpkin patch in the fall. Lots of mornings we woke up in just enough time to get you your chocolate milk, a banana and fresh clothes as you headed out the door. You and daddy walked often and mama and the brothers would pick you up at noon. Hip hip hooray to summer and all of the adventures we're going to have! I sure do love you, biggest boy!
