month six | solomon

Happy half birthday little dude!! You are such a delight. You give the best smiles and seem to be content taking in the world around you. You like to sit up (all by yourself) and watch Amos do whatever he's doing or to be in the exersaucer where you can stand and watch what's going on. And, you still  hate to be on your tummy! You may crawl before you roll from your back to your tummy. Do it your own way, dude.

We moved into our "temporary house" while we're renovating our new house and you've been so easy to just go with the flow. You and Amos now share a room (which you'll continue to do once we move into our new house) and for the most part it's been wonderful. You love to sit on Amos' bed with him and belly laugh at just about everything he does.  It is so sweet to see how you adore him.

At your 6 month appointment you weighed 16.5# and were 28" long. You're a little longer and lighter than 'Mos was at this appointment, but the doc said to keep watching - that you two will probably eventually even out. We'll see. Keep growing big & strong, Solly Mack. Mama is looking forward to our first summer together. We'll puddle sploosh with Amos, swim in the lake with daddy-o, boat ride with Mimi & Papa, explore the beach (hopefully lots of times), eat popsicles on the front stoop, sleep late (fingers crossed), catch lightening bugs, walk to the park and play hard all day long.

Love you Solly-mon, to the moon and back.

mike's birthday celebration started off with donuts from circa. then, we spent saturday night in charleston at our favorite b&b sans kiddos. we slept 10 hours (what the what?!!), ate too much good food, saw a ridiculous movie, and just enjoyed being mikey & mc. we came home to a birthday dinner of pizza and strawberry pie at honey's house and continued our celebration into the week. on mike's actual birthday we had lunch with grandmother at Roost, then a date for drinks thanks to mimi & papa - who were actually helping me pull off a semi-surprise dinner with our best buds at mellow mushroom

happy birthday, mikey! cheers to year 28!

a [birthday] letter to my mikey

[one of my new very favorite pictures of us - ever.]

Dear, sweet Mikey of mine. In honor of your upcoming birthday and weekend of birthday festivities, I just wanted to tell you that I love you. You are so very special to me and I am reminded daily just how fortunate I am to call you mine-all-mine. Can you believe this will be our 11th year celebrating your birthday together?! (#weareold) Mister, I love being on this adventure with you. You're my favorite travel buddy, my biggest fan, my not-so-consistent workout partner (unless it comes to running), my baby daddy, my opposite in every way, my take on the world very best friend. Thank you for taking on the world with me - for not being afraid to trust what the Lord has for us, even when it's not always clear or easy to see. Thank you for always praying for our family and for leading us. Thank you for being brave in parenting these two little hood rats ones with me. Thank you for loving me, for pursing me, for still be interested in me as Mc, not just the mama of your boys. You and me...we've got a good thing going and there ain't nobody in this world I'd rather be doing this with. I hope that over the next few days you feel especially loved and celebrated and that over the next year you are challenged and stretched, that you grow, that you are content and happy, that you are blessed beyond measure and that you know how treasured you are (and not just by us, but especially by us).

Happy [early] birthday, big one! C'mon Saturday so we can bust outta here!!!!
