louisville, in my mind forever marked as the city i walked miles upon miles, baby on my chest (at home), sweaty from the end of summer heat, blisters from last years birthday shoes, no agenda but to wonder in and out of shops, ever in search of an iced chai.

morning coffee on the go. a brief pass through of the world fest that led me to the sprawling Ohio River. a bus ride east, just me and the littlest boy, in search of just what there was to see.
a belly full of empanadas, cochinita pibil, and black bean cakes encored with piping hot churros, my favorite meal in a very long time. my biggest boy working late, laying his head on the pillow beside mine at odd morning hours, but there.

a trip for reminding and remembering and just being.

there is nothing like stealing away to the mountains for a few days. even better when it's to ring in the new year! coffee on tap (as it always is with these friends), homemade enchiladas, from-scratch sticky buns, an afternoon of shop-hopping with the babies & a trip to the river for the big boys, a family style breaky to send us home ...

things to remember from our brief stay in new york with the browns:

9 people in the treehouse 2.0
fancy donuts for breaky
boys chirping "taxi" or "city bus" every time one rolled by
pic-nic-ing in the park, multiple times
finding the best splash pad
sitting in our jams after the babies went to sleep catching up over whiskey drinks

to say that i love new york is an understatement. my love for new york started 6 years ago when amber and i spent our first girls weekend tucked away in alexa's first treehouse...amos tucked away in my belly. we've since visited a handful times, just me and amber, just me and mikey, and with the boys in tow. the fact that the boys love new york makes me a little giddy. i'm so thankful for friends who'll open their house for my crazy crew!
