happenings @ 12 Tyler Street
Saturday was the first "work day" we've been able to have around 12 Tyler Street in a while. House projects have taken a back burner due to Lake Hartwell being more full than it's been in years - we feel we must take advantage of this water while we can! Anyway, Saturday we dug up some nasty plants that have been haunting our flower beds and sunk the posts for our fence! Hip hip hooray for progress!

shutters for 12 tyler street
Mike had cedar shutters handmade for our little abode. To say we're smitten with this small face lift is an understatement.
*Mike also had help from the cutest neighbor we know -- sweet baby Lucas!

Deck Progress
Mikey's been working hard on the deck! He's gotten most of the flooring laid and we have high hopes of getting it mostly finished this weekend! All that's left (for now) is to finish laying the flooring, to put up the railing and posts and to find some cute string lights. We're both super excited about this addition to the house and can't wait to spend lazy evenings out here eating and reading.

before & after laundry room
We finally have another before & after post for you. We're ready to show off the laundry room - I know, I know...not too exciting for you, but believe me we're excited about it! The laundry room was the very first demolition / re-building that happened on the house. It started out as a back stoop and we decided to move the washer / dryer out here to give us more room in kitchen. Old houses used to have the laundry facilities right in the kitchen and with ours being as small as it is we couldn't sacrifice the space for a washer & dryer in there. This little room has been the perfect place for a laundry room!
bye bye walls
hello new sub-flooring
Mikey & Papa re-building walls & the ceiling
new floor (thanks dad!)
new walls & new window

the beginnings of a deck
Well folks, the latest update around 12 Tyler Street is the newest addition (don't worry - Little Mc didn't come way early) - we're getting a deck! This past weekend, our incredibly awesome friends came over and yet again lent a helping hand and helped build (most of) a deck. These boys are amazing...they busted their butts and got this all done in a day! Chris, Chris, Sam, Mike & Papa THANK YOU for your hard, awesome work this past weekend! Seriously, we owe y'all BIG time! (:
