Sweet child, this is the best I could do for your 10 month picture. You were not having anything to do with lying on the green mat this time, much less anything to do with lying there still! Boy, you never stop moving and I wouldn't trade that for the world.

This month your 4th tooth popped through (top right | July 17). Your whole look has changed now that you have 4 teeth in that sweet little mouth. You look like such the big boy!

We (you and me) spent Aug. 11 - 15 with Honey because Daddy was out of town with work. While there we started playing, "Where's Amos?!" where we'd put a blanket or book in front of your face, then pull it away quickly while asking, "Where's Amos?!". You got the hang of this pretty quickly and now any time we ask "Where's Amos?!" you put whatever is in your hands up to your face and pull it away quickly!

You've learned to pull up and still army crawl everywhere. Now that you can stand, you prefer this over sitting, which makes my day very interesting. Mama is ready for those sweet chubby legs to start walking on their own. (: People say that this will rock my world. I say, bring it.

We spent Labor Day weekend at the beach with M (my mama). We knew you loved the beach because you were just there last month -- but a lot changed over a month! You LOVED to crawl in the sand (and only ate a few handfuls), lay in surf, and even began dunking your own head in the pool! We've known that you were a water-bug all along & I'll bet that you're swimming solo next summer!

You started trying to articulate things this month (hooray!). While at Mimi & Papa's house (Sept. 2) you said "gk" and we started to understand that you were saying "dog." Once we caught on and said "dog" a few hundred times you in turn started saying "og-ah." Now whenever we ask you to say "dog" we consistently get "gk" or "og-ah."

And, your newest trick this month is waving! It's seriously the cutest thing ever. While spending the night with Kayla Jean while our boys were playing, you started waving across the room to her (instead of going to sleep). One of my favorite things is for you to catch your reflection in something (most of the time the mirror in your room) and for you to wave to yourself.

You're such a big boy now Amos. Your little very big personality is really starting to shine. You are opinionated (no clue who you get that from...), sweet, curious, smart, tough, and constantly make us smile. We praise Jesus and thank Him every day for letting us be your parents. Keep growing big and strong my little one.

Sigh. When I look at you, Amos, I no longer see my tiny little baby. Now I see a sweet, handsome, smart little boy. I know that I'm probably getting ahead of myself here, but every time I take one of these "month by month" pictures I look back at the others months and boy how you've changed!

This has been a big month for you. You're first tooth popped through on June 18th and just a few days later you started really army crawling (while we were at the lake). Every since then you have been on.the.move! You don't like to be still for very long which definitely keeps us on our toes. One of your favorite spots to play is under our bed. If ever I can hear you, but not see you, I know that's where you've hidden yourself.

You are a very curious and smart little one. You use your index finger to feel everything (and I mean everything!). It's super cute. You even use that little index finger to stroke your eyelashes as you fall asleep. Sometimes you also like to play with your hair while you fall asleep. I hope that I will remember these tiny details of your growing and changing in my heart forever.

We've discovered how very ticklish you are. We love to "hold you down" and tickle you all over! Your laugh is the sweetest sound on this earth!

Mosie, what a delight you are! (:

And because I couldn't pick my favorite this month:

homemade baby food: carrots

homemade baby food: carrots

IMG_2977 IMG_2978 IMG_2981

This was my first attempt at making homemade baby food. I was hoping to have a garden this summer and to be able to make baby food from my own homegrown fruits & veggies, but we've been busy busy bees and didn't have time to plant one. C'est la vie. There's always next summer! [Better start planning now...]

Ingredients:
one 1# bag of baby carrots

Directions:
Boil carrots (whole bag) until soft
Put soft carrots into blender / mixer & "puree"
You may have to add a little water to get the desired consistency
Store in air tight container in refrigerator

Amos Michael, I have loved being your mama for the past 7 months. You bring your daddy and me so much joy! You're such a content little dude! What a treat it is to be your parents.

You've become quite the good eater. By now, you've tried all sorts of foods (even some table food...especially thanks to your grandparents & great-grandparents!) and you eat it all. (Right before you turned 7 months, we went back to the doctor for a possible ear infection and found that you weighed 18#9oz! Praise the Lord for no ear infection!)

You've been in the swimming pool and lake (even when the water was chilly) and you just splashed around and smiled like it was the best thing in the world. You're the cutest little water-bug around!

I have so very much loved watching you discover new things each month. This month (we noticed on June 2) you found that you control your hands while lying on the bed with Daddy-O. You  watched yourself open and close those precious hands what seemed like a hundred times in just a few hours.

We also had our biggest "parent fail" yet this month. One night after bath time we had you on the changing table and "let" you roll right off! How, with both of your parents right there it was possible, I don't know! But, praise the Lord your little spongy self just bounced when you hit the floor. You cried for a bit, but nothing was hurt - you were just scared, as were we! Don't worry, we learned our lesson and you won't be rolling off anything high on our watch again. (:

happy half birthday, little one
IMG_2323
seriously, i can't believe that we're already celebrating your half birthday! you'll learn quickly that birthdays are a BIG deal to your mama, so we celebrate half birthdays around here too. (:

at your 6 month check up you weighed 17#10oz, measured 26.8" long! what a big boy you're getting to be.

in this past month you stayed with Mimi and Papa (and Mere) for your longest stay away from mama and daddy-o yet (for the crazy Palmetto 200). you also (ad)ventured to St. Augustine, FL for a reunion with 2 of mama's very best friends, aunt Melissa and aunt Carolyn. you're a little beach bum. you hung out in the sun (well, under the umbrella) with us girls for hours, took a dip in the chilly ocean (and didn't mind that it was cool) and were a champ in the heated pool! i can't wait for our very first summer together -- swimming pool dates at honey's and gram's, tractor rides with OD and Pop, daily walks with mama, lunch dates at the park with daddy-o, and so much more.

you are on.the.move! you like to roll and roll and roll. on Haley's birthday (May 5) you actually sat by yourself for the very first time! it was only for a few seconds, but since then you've gotten much better (by May 17 you've really gotten the hang of it).

love you to the moon, mighty moose

month five

Five whole months you've been here. Five whole months I've loved you with my whole heart.

In this past month big things happened! You started rolling over -- mostly from our laps to the bed, but you'll roll from your tummy to your back and vise versa too. We started feeding you baby food right after your 4 month visit to the doctor. You don't really care for rice cereal (and I'm not a big fan either, so we don't eat it a lot), but you've loved everything else (bananas, apples, apples + blueberries, squash, sweet potatoes, pears + cinnamon oatmeal, whipped cream and chocolate chili bacon milkshake). (:

You've also been quite the world traveler. For daddy-o's birthday we took a 5 day trip to the Bahamas to see our sweet friends, Will, Toni and Belle! You were a stud on the airplane, loungin' on the beach and splashing in the water! Traveling is something that both your daddy-o & I love to do, so we hope by taking you all over the place now that you'll develop a love for it too.

I'm not sure what's happened to your "good" sleep habits, but they've gone out the window. This past month we've had no sleep schedule and even had one day where you woke up ready for the day at 4AM. Mama is determined to fix this though.

One of the sweetest things you do now is lay in your crib and talk to yourself when you first wake up. I love hearing you on the monitor in the morning jibber-jabbering in your room!

You still have no teeth. I've decided teething is for the birds anyway. I keep hoping / praying / wishing that one would just go ahead & pop through those little gums, as a reward for all the hard work you're putting in chewing / gnawing on everything in site!

...and an outtake...
